About the Ossie
I trained as a primary teacher and graduated with a bachelor of Education (K-7) from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia in 2014. While I was at university I specialised in visual arts and religious education. I also worked as a supply teachers assistant and after school provision teacher through the 7 years I spent completing my degree.
I had the opportunity to move to the UK in July 2015 and I haven't looked back since. Considering it was a 1-year plan, this wasn't an expected outcome but I believe that when you see an area of need and you develop brilliant relationships with the school community, why leave?
At the beginning of the 2016-17 school year I was made the lead of Number basics, Year 1 and Speech, language and communication. This year I have also added lead of ICT and computing and Teach first mentor to my repertoire. I've taught year 1 for the 3 years that I've been working at TPA.
This year I've also begun the Ambition School Leadership program (middle leaders primary) and through this I've been focusing my energy on changing the way we teach oracy in the curriculum. I've met new friends that work at schools with outstanding oracy that has only driven my passion for improving and changing the way we teach oracy at a whole school level.
